ATMI is expanding our gas packaging and delivery business and are seeking a Product Design Engineer who is responsible for supporting the day to day needs of both internal and external customers as relating to currently released products used in the Semiconductor, Flat Panel Display, and Solar industries. The core of the product line is a family of patented gas packaging and delivery products (SDS). Additionally, the engineer is responsible for leading various continuous improvement activities and for performing various tasks associated with developing new products. This person will work closely and effectively with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Quality, R&D, and other Engineering personnel from many cultures throughout the world. The Product Engineer reports to the Global Technology Director, Materials Solutions and is located in the Danbury, CT development headquarters.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Marketing & Sales to develop project proposals and plans, and determine scheduling, procedures, and resource requirements; Lead new product development and product extension projects, including planning, schedule, and resources; Work with Manufacturing to ensure products are manufacturable, meet quality standards and cost targets; Respond to technical requests from internal and external customers; Assess the technical feasibility of design concepts through testing and theoretical calculations and simulation; Support Quality, Marketing, Sales, and Operations on technical issues associated with released products; Develop and perform experimental test plans; Generate and document drawings for new products and product extensions; Generate and complete Engineering Change Orders (ECO); Write work instructions and technical reports; Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Requirements |
 |
Successful candidates will typically have the following skill set:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent; 5+ years in the electronic gases industry strongly preferred; Proficient in SolidWorks; Knowledge, design, and operation of gas handling and delivery equipment and automated control systems a plus; Experience handling toxic gases and liquefied gases; Knowledge of DOT/UN regulations as relating to gases a plus; Experience with new product introduction using a phase gate development approach; Statistical analysis and principles experience including the use of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools.
